I'm planning on moving to Vancouver next year for school. I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback about the Accounting program at Langara. Thanks in advance!

Are you going for a diploma, or do you plan to transfer to university for a degree, or are you thinking of getting a BBA at Langara?

I want to get my diploma for sure, but I'm still debating between transfering to a university or just staying at langara to get my bba. Is one better than the other?

Langara will of course try to entice you to finish your BBA at their school, which is a) cheaper and b)...cheaper. The BBA program is new (introduced last year, I think?) and I project it'll likely be incredibly popular.

What I would double-check, though if you plan to go ahead with the BBA and then in the future get a Masters, is whether Universities recognize Langara's degrees. I know a person who get a music degree in Capilano College and it wasn't recognized by Universities when he wanted to get his Masters.

If you are planning to transfer to UBC or SFU and complete your Degree, I'd rec the Commerce Diploma/Associate Degree (your choice of credential) as that program is tailored to transferring to UBC especially.

As for the Accounting Diploma...I have no idea really. Your best contact for all of these programs would be:

Ellen Hamer (Fin Mgt Chair)

ehamer@langara.bc.ca

or

Antonella Alves (Bus Mgt Asst)
604-323-5848
business@langara.bc.ca

Good luck!
